No, this isn't a post about cheating on someone in a relationship, ha ha.
It's about how, all of my life really, I have had an almost insatiable desire to go. Just go! If I haven't been to the place I am going to, all the better - although old favorites are good in my book too. Even when I have been pretty darned poor, I always make room in the budget to indulge my travel appetite. It might be camping in the back of a short-bed Ford Bronco, it might be just down the road a bit - it doesn't really matter.
If you know me, you know that the job I had before I started my new business indulged my travel bug to the Nth degree. I never did get any sympathy for this, but the reality was I had to work very, very hard for almost all of those trips. Except the site visits. Those were always my favorites - and why wouldn't they be? No distributors or colleagues to take care of, and the only requirement was to be sure to thoroughly vet all the many aspects that are necessary for a successful incentive event. As I always said to people, if you have to work, Paris (or Italy or Hawaii, or wherever) isn't a bad place to do it.
So the list on the right side of this blog represents all of the international locations I have traveled to. With the exception of Ensenada, Mexico, they were all taken during my previous employment (about a 12 year period). I do consider myself incredibly lucky to have had that opportunity, and I am missing it in a pretty big way right now! But I know that I'll need to dust off my passport again someday.
People always ask me where my favorite place is, and that's actually pretty hard to answer. I enjoy every new place I go to, if only for the novelty of it. BUT, some of my most favorite: Santorini, Thailand, Switzerland, Egypt ... it's kinda like being asked who your favorite child is.
I have also traveled to most of the states. There's quite a few locations in the U.S. that are my favorites - Hawaii (I HAVE to figure out a way to live there part time), New York City, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, to name a few. Others are favorites because people I love live or did live there: Tucson, Flagstaff, Lacrosse, Phoenix (good for a winter visit, but otherwise I probably wouldn't care for that one so much).
As I said, someday I'll be able to satisfy my wanderlust a bit more. Until then, I am blessed with memories of a lot of amazing trips.
